  Sowbrook Lake, is owned by the Nottingham Anglers Association, which means you have to be a member to fish there. There are two types of membership for the lake, daylight fishing and full membership allows night fishing.
  
  I have spent day's camped out in my bivvy lakeside, with something hot to eat and a lovely cuppa. The other members are really friendly and know all there is to know about tactics for catching carp. They willingly share their experiences, to give you a better chance of catching what are wise and wily carp.
  
  Although the carp can be difficult to catch it really does not matter because, you wake up to the sound of songbirds and cattle making their way to graze, so what does it matter the fish aren't biting? The atmosphere is peaceful and calming, perfect for a little time away from your busy everyday life.
  
  There are a couple of problems to think about before setting up camp for a while such as, there are no toilets or washing facilities, so using a chemical porta-potty and carrying enough water is a must. The other problem you could face is, having to hammer your tent pegs into what feels like hard core. A strong set of pegs is essential. Once you have overcome these problems, you are well set for a great day or couple of days and nights fishing.
  
  On the plus side, there is a Chinese take-away close by who are happy to deliver your order to the main gate. There is one other thing I should mention and that is; there is a club close-by. I have not tried, but you might be able to get signed in and enjoy a drink or two.
